Chicago Terminal Chapter Meeting Slated

The Chicago Terminal Chapter of the PRRT&HS will hold its first meeting of the new year on Saturday, January 24 between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM at the Pullman Visitor’s Center, 11141 S. Cottage Grove Avenue, Chicago Illinois

George Pierson will present "The PRR Middle Division in Juniata County, PA, 1847-2012."  This program will take an in-depth look at this 30-mile stretch of the famous PRR Middle Division in central Pennsylvania. The presentation will cover how the PRR developed from its earliest days into the famous four-track Broad Way of Commerce.  Every significant structure in this 30-mile stretch will be covered.  Port Royal, Mifflin, and the coal wharf at Denholm will receive special attention, including a number of rare photos, many of which have not been seen before. Over this stretch, the PRR once connected with three different narrow gauge pikes.  A fuller version of this material is being prepared for an upcoming issue of the Pennsylvania Railroad Technical & Historical Society’s KEYSTONE magazine.

While desirable, membership in the PRRT&HS is not required for attendance at our local meetings.  Moreover, while donations are always welcome, there is no admission charge, nor any “arm-twisting” for a donation.  Typical attendees consist of a mixture of ex-railroaders, model railroaders, and those interested in the operation and history of the Pennsylvania Railroad.

Anyone interested in learning about the Pennsylvania Railroad is invited to attend.
