The Chicago Terminal Chapter of the PRRT&HS will hold its next meeting on Saturday, April 25, between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM at the Pullman Visitor’s Center, 11141 S. Cottage Grove Avenue, Chicago Illinois.
Our speaker for the meeting will be Darwin Simonaitis. During the 1940s, the PRR tested the class A and J locomotives of the N&W, while the N&W and C&O tested the Penny’s T1. In addition, the Pennsylvania’s J1 locomotives were based on a C&O design embellished with a PRR distinctive front end and cab. Darwin will try to unravel some of the confusion that exists regarding the test results of these locomotive by the individual railroads.
While desirable, membership in the PRRT&HS is not required for attendance at our local meetings. Moreover, while donations are always welcome, there is no admission charge, nor any “arm-twisting” for a donation. Typical attendees consist of a mixture of ex-railroaders, model railroaders, and those interested in the operation and history of the Pennsylvania Railroad.
Anyone interested in learning about the Pennsylvania Railroad is invited to attend.
The Chapter needs presentations for the upcoming July 24 and October 25 meetings. If you or someone else will be in the Chicago area on these dates, has something to share about the Railroad and would like to present the information at one of these meetings, please contact me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
