The Northern Central and Middle Division chapters of the PRRT&HS will hold a joing meeting on Saturday, September 14th at the Lewistown Station, Lewistown, Pa., at 12:30 p.m.
The Middle Division members will provide access to the tower by noon and perhaps earlier. Besides a great view of the main line, the tower is home to model boards from several towers on the former Middle Division, including LEWIS and VIEW.
We are trying to arrange a tour of the archives. Access requires a member of the archive committee to be present, but as of this writing, none were available. We were encouraged to check back just prior to the date to see if anything has changed.
At 12:30 we will commence the business meetings of the two chapters. Business will be kept to a minimum so as to get on to the main program.
The main program will be a roundtable discussion on operations out of Lewistown. We are reaching out to former PRR, PC, and Conrail veterans who operated out of Lewistown to attend this meeting to share their experiences. We expect to have Dave Goering present, who was the last Pennsy yard foreman at Lewistown. We've also invited a few engineers.
As a roundtable, it is up to YOU to make this program the best it can be...
If you know a former employee who worked out of Lewistown, try to bring them along.
If you have photographs or diagrams of the yard or the branches, please bring them along.
If you have paperwork relating to Lewistown operations, please bring it along.
If you have LEWIS tower sheets, please bring them along.
The underlying theme is “if you have it, please bring it along”!
The meeting is open to the public.
