Freelance Pennsylvania Railroad short line in the fall in northwestern PA.
The Kinzua Region is located in a 16’ x 24’ basement room constructed when we purchased the home in July of 2006.
The layout is a continuous run that consists of a two track mainline and a branch line that serves the round house and diesel servicing. The main industry trackside is an oil refinery. The track work is completely ballasted and is all code 100 as the PRR used heavy rail on most of their lines. I have various turnout manufactures that range from #4 through #8. 95% of all turnouts are solenoid switch machines that are wired remotely. The minimum radius is 15” and maximum is 36” that includes super-elevated curves. The railroad has a manual PRR position light signal system with no automated blocks.
Basement Bilco door entry around back of house. Signs posted near garage doors. No smoking please. Feel free to park on grass or driveway.
